Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops session
Starts, Stops, and Continues
Saturday, May 4th, 2013
Starts
- Emphasize that communication is from the member to the Patrol Leader (PL) to the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) and back. Parents should not be telling the Scoutmaster that their son is not coming to a patrol or troop meeting; that should come from the member to his PL and from the PL to the SPL and then from the SPL to the Scoutmaster when making the "Troop Report" at the beginning of the meeting.
- Write standards and award criteria to recognize the "Scout of the Month" and "Honor Patrol".
- Select Troop Bugler. Use the Bugler at troop campouts and outings.
- Encourage bringing musical instrument(s) to campouts campfire entertainment.
- Work on Scout Spirit and continue to emphasize the need for patrol flags and cheers!
- Emphasis better time keeping at troop meetings.
Stops
Continues
- Re-emphasize use of Patrol Advisors:
- Cobras (formerly Wolves) Patrol: ASM Nostrand.
- Spartans (formerly Flaming Arrows) Patrol: ASM Schichtel.
- Bisons (our Troop mainstay) Patrol: to be determined.
- Lightening (new scout) Patrol: to be determined.
Respectfully submitted,
Troop Webmaster
